Slashing

Paddocks, acreage and steep slopes cut with a mulching deck, so the grass is spread evenly and breaks down instead of sitting in windrows.

No Runaround. No Surprises.

Three Simple Steps From First Look to Finished Property

A straightforward process, so you know what to expect from quote through to completion.

  1. We look at the property

We come out, walk the block with you and look at the slope, access, growth and anything that needs working around. Then we explain the best approach and give you a clear quote with no pressure.

  2. You get a clear plan

We match the right machine and setup to your property, whether it is steep, wet, overgrown or a big lawn that just needs doing. You will know how the work will be done and what to expect.

  3. You get a tidy property back

We complete the job to the agreed standard, spread the cut material evenly and leave nothing for you to clean up. The result is a paddock, lawn or estate you can use straight away.

The cost of leaving it

Long Grass Never Gets Cheaper to Cut

Putting the job off another season, or getting the wrong gear in, usually ends up costing more:

  • Grass thickens to the point where it has to be cut twice, or cut slowly, which costs more
  • Lantana, blackberry and fireweed seed into country that was still good pasture
  • Fuel loads build against houses, sheds and boundaries through the hottest part of the year
  • A conventional slasher leaves windrows that smother the pasture you were trying to improve

Good Questions — Here's What to Know

My suburb isn’t listed?

We can travel further for larger properties. The additional travel will be incorporated into the quote.

What is your hourly rate?

We don’t charge by the hour. We do a fixed price quote or a day rate, which can vary depending on location and equipment used.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and strata managers, developers and commercial clients can have a certificate of currency and our documentation for prequalification.

What areas do you cover?

We are based in Wollongong and work across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands — Dapto, Shellharbour, Kiama, Berry, Bomaderry, Nowra, Kangaroo Valley, Bundanoon, Moss Vale and Bowral are all regular runs. Travel is built into the quote rather than added on.

Are you qualified to do the work?

Yes. We are qualified horticulturalists with more than ten years of experience. The people who quote your job are the people who turn up to do it.

What is the difference between slashing and mulching?

A conventional slasher knocks the grass over and leaves it lying in long windrows behind the tractor, where it smothers the pasture and takes months to break down. We cut with mulching decks, which chop the grass finely and spread it evenly so it breaks down into the soil within weeks and improves the paddock rather than sitting on top of it.

How steep can you work?

Steep country is our specialty. Our tractors are set up for the escarpment slopes around Jamberoo, Kiama, Kangaroo Valley and the Highlands, and most of our slashing happens on ground other contractors turn down. If a section is genuinely unsafe we will tell you rather than put a machine on it.
